  PMI Welcomes First Supplier Member Under New Affiliate Category –

  Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) Board President Stewart Yang is pleased to announce that Chase Brass and Copper Company is the first company to accept PMI's invitation to join the organization through a new membership category, Allied Membership. The Allied Membership category was approved during the PMI Fall Conference held in September 2011 and welcomes new members who qualify as suppliers and certifiers to the plumbing industry. Members under this heading receive a number of the benefits of PMI membership, such as access to PMI publications and attendance at PMI’s semi-annual conferences at a special membership fee.   IAPMO, PMI sign MoU to explore more dynamic collaboration –

  The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) and Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) specifically detailing ways in which the two venerable organizations will work together to jointly advance and promote mutual industry interests as related to education, training and advocacy. Through this MoU, IAPMO and PMI pledge cooperation in the achievement of numerous objectives. (Continue reading.)

  PMI Welcomes New Executive Board member –

  Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) is pleased to announce C.J. Lagan as the newest addition to the PMI Board of Directors. Lagan was appointed by the Board to fill a recent vacancy. A senior manager of compliance engineering for American Standard Brands, Lagan began his appointment in July. His term expires at the end of 2012, when he will be eligible to run for a full three-year term. Lagan recently completed a term as the co-chair of the Water Efficiency and Sustainability Issue Committee.

  Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) President Jack Krecek, vice president and general manager of Commercial Channels for Elkay Manufacturing Company, has announced that PMI will host its Fall Conference, Sept. 18-21, at the Liaison Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Highlighting the conference is an Executive Roundtable to be held on Mon., Sept. 19, moderated by political pundit and journalist, George Will. (more)

  PMI Praises California’s Lead Testing Results –

  Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) members' products successfully passed the California Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC)'s first testing for reduced lead content in drinking water faucets, pipes and pipefittings. Read the news release by clicking here.

  Canadians Ride for Habitat, Aug. 21 –

  The Canadian Institute for Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) and the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) will get their motors running for a second annual motorcycle ride to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Canada.   Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) President Jack Krecek, vice president and general manager of commercial channels for Elkay Manufacturing Company, has made his selection for a new co-chair to help lead PMI's Member Services Committee.   PMI presents Legislator of the Year Awards to supporters of Reduction of Lead in Water Act –

  Members of the Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) Executive Committee and PMI Executive Director Barbara C. Higgens traveled to Washington, D.C., to present Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and James Inhofe (R-OK) and Congressman Tom Petri (R-WI) with the Legislator of the Year awards. These elected officials were recognized for their leadership and support of the PMI-supported Reduction of Lead in Water Act signed into law Jan. 4 by President Barack Obama (P.L.111-380). The bill harmonizes the 0.25% maximum lead content of plumbing products and provides a 36-month implementation period.

  LEED for Homes re-opens for public comment –

  The second period for public comment on LEED for Homes (LEED-H) will run from July 1 through Aug. 15, 2011. A projected release of revised LEED requirements is set for November 2012. According to ecohome magazine, "specific proposed changes to the LEED-H rating system include ...adding 10 new credits including those for trades training, WaterSense Homes certification, solar-ready rough-ins, and HRVs and ERVs."

  PMI’s Barbara C. Higgens accepts Lifetime Achievement Award –

  Barbara C. Higgens, Plumbing Manufacturers International’s (PMI’s) executive director, was recognized with a Crystal Vision “Robert P. Atkins Life Time Achievement Award.” World Vision presented the award during the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show on April 26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Higgens is the third person ever to receive the Life Time Achievement Award. The award honors individual dedication to World Vision’s mission of ‘working with children, families and their worldwide communities to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.”
  
  For more than 10 years, Higgens has championed The Storehouse of World Vision, which addresses the needs of Americans suffering from disaster, personal crisis or economic hardship by providing families with supplies, including building products and materials. Companies donate excess inventory or produced-to-give products to The Storehouse’s warehouses. The Storehouse, in turn, partners with other nonprofit organizations to install these much-needed products and materials in homes, shelters, rehabilitation facilities, schools, daycares, churches, and other community centers.
